President's Report
Back on June 17, 2025, we teamed up with the SIOR Iowa-Nebraska Chapter to host the College World Series Tailgate at The Old Mattress Factory Bar & Grill in Omaha. It was a fantastic evening with record attendance, held right in the heart of the NCAA Men’s College World Series buzz, where so many of us had the chance to connect, swap ideas, and strengthen our community of commercial real estate professionals. Events like these really showcase our commitment to fostering meaningful relationships, and I’m already looking forward to growing the event further next year!
As we move into the fall, there are two big events on the horizon that I hope to see you at. First up is the C5 + CCIM Global Summit, happening September 16-18, 2025, at the Hilton Chicago. This conference, put on by the National Association of REALTORS® and the CCIM Institute, promises to be a powerhouse of insights—think keynote sessions, deep dives into trends like AI and proptech, and even field tours of Chicago’s commercial properties. It’s a prime chance to network with brokers, investors, and developers from around the world. You can find all the registration details for C5 + CCIM on CCIM.com.
Then, just a few weeks later, we’ve got the CCIM Fall Forum from October 5-9, 2025, at the JW Marriott Parq in Vancouver, British Columbia. This event will be packed with market updates, site tours, and continuing education courses, wrapping up with the Designee Pinning Ceremony on October 7 to celebrate our newest CCIM designees. It’s a great opportunity to sharpen your skills and connect with peers on a global scale. Check out more at CCIM Fall Forum. If you’re planning to attend, let me know—I’d love to catch up over coffee or cocktails in Vancouver!
Speaking of Vancouver, I want to give a special shoutout to those of you gearing up for the CCIM Designation Comprehensive Exam on October 8, 2025. This full-day test is the final hurdle to earning your CCIM designation, and I know the dedication it takes to get here. There’s an optional Core Concepts Review on October 6-7 to help you prep, and the whole chapter is rooting for you. You’ve got this! For more info, visit CCIM Designation Calendar. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s any way we can support you as you take this big step.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s coming up:
- C5 + CCIM Global Summit: September 16-18, 2025 – Hilton Chicago, Chicago, IL
- CCIM Fall Forum: October 5-9, 2025 – JW Marriott Parq, Vancouver, BC

It’s an exciting time to be part of this chapter, and I’m grateful for the energy and commitment each of you brings. Here’s to a productive and connected rest of 2025!
Warm regards,
Grant Kobes, CCIM

These investor-friendly provisions didn’t happen by chance. NAR’s government affairs team, working collaboratively with CCIM members, shaped the final law. Through coordinated advocacy via policy briefings in Chicago and D.C. and direct engagement on Capitol Hill, we helped ensure that provisions like the permanently restored bonus depreciation and enhanced QBI deduction were secured. These tools serve as vital levers for commercial investors navigating tight margins and investment timing, and their inclusion underscores the impact of sustained, strategic lobbying by our community.
